RARE THIRD REICH MINING SERVICE OFFICERS SWORD BY WKC WTH SUPERB ETCHED BLADE WITH ORGANISATION MOTTO.

Most German miners swords which are occasionally seen are imperial German examples or plain hilt army swords that have peen converted at some period into a miners sword with attachment of grip insignia, this example is an actual Third Reich manufactured example and it is the first one that I have offered for sale for many years. The plain brass hilt has a very nice age patina as it has never been cleaned, attached to the hilt of the sword by two small pins is the organisation badge of the Miners organisation, a pair of crossed silver miners hammers. The black celluloid grip is in perfect condition (Imperial examples have fish skin or leather grips), The superb engraved blade is by WKC and it features there Third Reich pattern trade mark which is the stamped knight head with letters WKC, the blade is triple etched, the obverse side features a long floral panel with miner lamp, crossed miners hammers and the Miners organisation motto, Gluck Auf (good luck), the reverse side features a long floral panel and even the spine of the blade is etched with oakleaves, there are a few minor age marks to the blade but over all it is very nice. Black leather scabbard fitted with three matching brass fitting which also have a nice age patina, the lower fittings has some small minor dents but these could be removed if required. A rare German Mining officers sword missing from most collection. Exc++
