1945 GUERNSEY CHANNEL ISLANDS LIBERATION MEDAL.

Not a German award but it is probably of interest to collectors of German awards. Gilt medal with Guernsey coat of arms and with the title, STATE OF GUERNSEY, the reverse side, LIBERATION FROM GERMAN OCUPATION MAY 9TH 1945. Complete with red, white and blue ribbon. The medal was purchased privately from the family of the original owner who served with the Royal Engineers and he was amongst the first British troops to liberate the channel islands from German occupation in 1945, The Chanel island were the only part of Britain to be occupied by Germany in WW2. The medal shows age but it is still in nice condition. Exc++
