SA DAGGER 1933 MODEL BY EICKHORN WITH UNIT ISSUE NUMBER AND COMPLETE WITH HANGER AND BELT LOOP.
This interesting example features the rare and very desirable and early large oval Eickhorn trade mark. All early nickel silver fittings, the lower crossguard is stamped Wf for the Westfalen SA group and it is also engraved, 16/13877 which is probably for SA Regiment 16 and the owners Ausweise number, the bottom of the crossguard is stamped 9 which is the factory workers bench number which is often seen on very early daggers by Eickhorn. The brown wooden grip is in fine condition and it is complete with SA insignia and silver eagle, it appears that the eagle might have taken a slight bump in its wearing life as the left wing is slightly tilted downwards but this might be just how it was mounted as the grip has a hand finished look to it which often early daggers do. The blade does show some age spotting and one tiny nick to the cutting edge but no pitting just natural age, the obverse side features the SA motto and the reverse side the rare and very early production large Eickhorn oval trade mark, if it was originally a Rohm blade there is no trace of the inscription now. Brown anodised scabbard with matching nickel silver fittings, there is a slight dent to the very bottom of the ball but it is not really noticeable. Complete with SA brown leather hanger and belt loop. Not a mint dagger but a very interesting example being unit marked and very early production. Exc++
