WW1 IMPERIAL GERMAN BAVARIAN OTHER RANKS PICKELHAUBE HELMET.

WW1 IMPERIAL GERMAN BAVARIAN OTHER RANKS PICKELHAUBE HELMET.

The black leather skull is in perfect condition and it is complete with blackened steel war time fittings, comprising Bavarian helmet plate, spike and leather chin strap with steel buckles. The cockades are now missing from the helmet but it is priced accordingly. The helmet features a black leather liner with makers stamp to the interior of the helmet with date which appears to be 1914 but it is rather faint now. The front and back peaks of the helmet are now slightly loose but they are still attached to the helmet and a tiny spot of glue would solve the problem but i have left the helmet just as it was obtained.[Condition: Exc++]

All early nickel silver hilt fittings have a matching age patina, the lower guard is SS district marked III for Munich. The blade is in very nice condition, the obverse side features the SS motto and the reverse side the makers details, Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen and it still retains some cross grain. Black anodised scabbard is in excellent condition and it is fitted with nickel fittings with a matching age patina which perfectly matches he hilt fittings. Complete with early style black leather vertical frog hanger fitted with early style spring clip, I have not removed the hanger but I doubt if it will be SS or RZM marked as it is almost certainly to early for this. The blade is still in good condition showing just light wear and age and just as you would expect. The leather scabbard is still in excellent condition, the lower leather tabs have been carefully removed almost certainly by the original owner probably to make it easer to conceal in the uniform but the upper tabs are still in place. GERMAN GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS DAGGER BY EICKHORN WITH SILVER KNOT.

GERMAN GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS DAGGER BY EICKHORN WITH SILVER KNOT.

This is a superb example in fine condition. The mother of pearl grip plates are in mint condition. The eagles head hilt is in fine condition, the crossguard eagle shows superb detail with a very nicly defined swastika. The blade is by Eickhorn Solingen and features there 1935/41 pattern trade mark. The matching Eickhorn scabbard is also in fine detail with no dents or damage. Complete with original silver knot, the cord is very thin which is typical for a GO knot but the acorn is slightly larger than normal but still smaller than the standard army acorn, there is slight wear to the cord from rubbing on the crossguard over the years. The Government official dagger are normally produced by Alcoso and Eickhorn but the Eickhorn daggers are much harder to find and also better quality than the Alcoso model. A very nice example highly recommended. Near Mint.

BRITISH VICTORIAN NAVEL OFFICERS SWORD.

BRITISH VICTORIAN NAVEL OFFICERS SWORD.

The hilt retains almost all original gilt finish with fine detail to the large lions head hilt, the basket hand guard display the anchor and Queen Victoria crown. The white fish skin grip is in fine condition. The long impressive blade is also in fine condition and it is by Larcom & Vesey of Portsea , this company was in business as Naval Taylors and outfitters from 1882 until 1905, the blade is double etched with long floral panels featuring royal coat of arms and crown anchor, the blade also has the official proof mark. Black leather scabbard is in superb condition and it has matching gilt fittings. Complete with gold and blue bullion officers sword knot. The sword is engraved on the hilt with the original owners name, P.C.Burfield, I tried to research this name but I can find only one naval officer by this name and he was commissioned in the 1940's and so it appears that he used an earlier family sword or perhaps he purchased second hand sword which is not that unusual as I have actually sold several swords over the years to recently commissioned officer as a second hand or even antique sword are considerably cheaper than purchasing a new sword which are very expensive. Near mint.
