LUFTWAFFE CARVED WOODEN EAGLE WITH 1943 PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION.
A beautifully carved wooden oak eagle sitting on a rocky out post, the detail to the eagles head and body is exceptional. Mounted below the eagle is a silver plaque featuring a Luftwaffe eagle and swastika and inscription, 18 JAN 1943, ZUM 500 FEINDFLUG 4/NJG 3 , I believe this inscription commemorates the 500th flight of a pilot in a night fighter unit. The reverse side is carved with the artists initials VL. Height 10 inches, the last photograph in the set gives a good size comparison with a bottle of wine. Recently obtained from an old collection in England.[Condition: Mint]
