THIRD REICH NAVAL OFFICERS SURRENDER SWORD.

This fascinating sword has had the blade broken of just below the Eickhorn trade mark, it was a German tradition for officers to brake the blade of there swords and daggers at the time of surrender. Brass lions head hilt still retains traces of the gilt finish, the folding guard displays the naval anchor. The white celluloid grip is in perfect condition and is complete with all original grip wire. The folding guard on the reverse side is issue stamped 0.3617. The blade is interesting as only 5cm remains but including the all important makers name which is Eickhorn Solingen and featuring there 1935/41 pattern trade mark. Black leather scabbard with matching gilt brass mounts, there is one crease to the leather shell at the lower section of the scabbard. Complete with silver naval officers sword knot which is in perfect condition and which is a rare and valuable item to find. With a perfect blade this sword would be priced at well over £1200.00. GERMAN NAVAL TYPE DAGGER.

GERMAN NAVAL TYPE DAGGER.

This model dagger is occasionally seen and it is believed to be of naval issue but which naval department actually used it is still not confirmed but it was probably the harbour administration or the naval fire service, but which ever naval organisation it was it is certainly a very scarce naval dagger to find and a great addition to a collection. Gilt brass flame ball pommel is in excellent condition. White bone grip is in fine condition with just one faint hairline crack to the side of the grip. Gilt brass crossguard with release button to the reverse side. The blade is in excellent condition and it is double etched with long decorative floral panels and features military designs such as crossed swords and other military motifs and so suggesting a naval / military use. Long black painted steel scabbard which retains approcamatly 90% original black paint. An Identical dagger is featured in Ltc Thomas Johnson\'s imperial edged weapon book, please see photographs. This is a large dagger, it measures approcamatly 19 inches or 49cm long and dates to the 1920\'s or early 1930\'s. Exc++

GERMAN DLV / LUFTWAFFE 1ST MODEL DAGGER BY GEBR HELLER (THE BALLOON MAN).

GERMAN DLV / LUFTWAFFE 1ST MODEL DAGGER BY GEBR HELLER (THE BALLOON MAN).

This is one of the hard to find early production Luftwaffe daggers produced with a solid leather scabbard and with the scabbard fittings held in place my metal staples. All early nickel silver fittings with fine detail to the brass swastikas to pommel and crossguard. The blade shows a few age marks but over all it is still extremely nice, the blade is by, GEBR HELLER, MARIENTHAL D.SCHWEINA / THR and displays there balloon man trade mark, I have had this maker many times on DLV knife\'s but I do not recall having it on a Luftwaffe dagger before. The scabbard is produced in solid dark blue leather with several bumps to the leather shell, this is a result of the movement of the internal scabbard springs over many years and is often seen on this scarce model dagger and is actually nice to see, the three matching nickel silver fittings are held in place with a large metal staple to each fitting rather than screws, the top scabbard mount is also interesting as it has a stamped Waffen amp mark. Complete with chain hanger, the spring clip is in good working order and it is stamped on the reverse side, D.R.G.M 926719 which is a mark occasionally seen on daggers of very early vintage. Exc++
