This actually appears to be a gold grade award but unfortunately only traces of the original gilt finish remains and that is mainly on the reverse side. This is a very nice early production example. Early nickel silver hilt fittings, the pommel and crossguard are inset with gilt brass swastikas. The blue leather grip is in fine condition just showing light wear. The blade is in near mint condition and it is maker marked SMF Solingen and it also stamped with the Luftwaffe waffen amp mark.
