Steel hilt, the rifle slot is still in good working order. The brown wooden grip plates are in perfect condition. The blade is in excellent condition and has various makers marks, Remington factory stamp, US mark and it is also dated 1917. WW1 SCOTTISH BASKET HILT BROADSWORD BELONGING TO CAPTAIN HAY OF THE CAMERON HIGHLANDERS.

Large silver basket hilt of the Scottish style still retaining the red insert liner, the handle is covered with fish skin, large ornate silver pommel. This is a very long massive bayonet and it is the 1914 model. Factory blued hilt, the bayonet slot is in good working order, the crossguard is stamped with an issue number. Campaign furniture and accessories were popular with the British military as they were reinforced with metal binding giving extra strength for travelling with the army. FRENCH CAVALRY TROOPERS SWORD, 19th CANTUARY.

This sword appears to be the French 1882 model but there are other similar earlier models which are almost identical, some of which were also used in the American civil war.
