SCOTS GUARDS MATCH BOX HOLDER TRENCH ART.

A very interesting WW1 Scottish trench art match box holder. Brass case mounted with the badge of the Scots guards which I believe is a scarce officers cap badge, it is then engraved 1914 - 1918 France. The side of the case is mounted with a copper striker. Brass lions head hilt still retains some original gilt finish. This is the model 1856/58 Yetagan sword bayonet. The bayonet does not feature any issue stamps and apparently some of these that are not marked were were used in the American civil war. Iron hilt with chequered composition grip plates. The rifle slot is tight so it might need some oil to release it. Long impressive blade has some old age marks. Double turn over barrels. The metal frame is engraved, Rigby Dublin and is also engraved with floral designs. A very attractive double barrel tap action pistol. The frame is engraved with crossed flags and it is maker marked, Richards London. Proof mark to the underside of the pistol. Metal handle with knuckle protector, the bottom of the grip is stamped with the makers name, ROBINS DUDLEY. The blade shows some age marks but it is still in good condition and could be cleaned if required.
